The countdown for the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses has begun. The last preparations are being made by the organization, including publishing the list of participants. No less than 23 countries send their best representatives to the battle for the world titles.

Dressage enthusiasts can look eagerly to the class for five-year-old horses in which 45 new talents make their appearance. Amongst others, the much-talked-about Secret makes his debut on the world stage with the Swedish rider Jessica Lynn Thomas, competing under the German flag. 17 countries are represented in this class that always draws much attention as it is the first time for many champions to display their skills in the arena.

38 contestants enter the battle for the medals in the 6-year-old class. Andreas Helgstrand and his marvelous Revolution will give everything to defend their title. Last year, the pair transcended above the competition and won the title for the five-year-olds. The runner-up of last year, Destacado, will make another appearance this year and only Candy OLD, the bronze medalist of 2018, is absent.

The 39 seven-year-olds are well-matched. The best of last edition was the stallion D’Avie, ridden by the Spanish Severo Jurado Lopez, plans to take another shot at the medals this year. Last year, Hermès and Dinja van Liere marched to an unexpected but well-deserved bronze medal, leaping from a 12th to a 3rd place in the final standings. An astonishing performance which the duo is determined to repeat this year.
