Today, there was some national dressage at the World Breeding Championships for Young Horses. The Onori Young Talent Kadervorming contained the classes Children, Juniors, Young Riders and U25.
Children-contestant Milou Ekkel and her seventeen-year-old pony Uvonia, a daughter of Olivi out of a Rossini-mare, realized a decent score of 66.923%. “She was a little bit nervous!” says a cheerful Milou after her test.
The Juniors class was dominated by the two gentlemen: Marten Luijten and Chiel van Bedag took the first and second place. The score of Marten and his Ampère-daughter Fynona, who is only eight years old, stood out: the performance of the combination received the smashing score of 71.818%. This means that Marten, to his happiness, achieved his third A-squad score. “I wanted to score that 71 per cent so badly,” he says afterwards, with a big smile on his face. The first reaction of Carlijn Vaessen when she comes out of the ring, scoring a 70.098%: “Finally!”. As her family gathers to congratulate her, she explains she finally obtained her first B-squad score with her Fossbury (Ampère x Sandro Hit).
Carlijn took the second place, right after Myrthe Wedda and her Diamond Geezer. Myrthe steered her ten-year-old bay Diamond Hit-son to the win at 71.814%.
For the U25 class, Emma Laarkamp was on the starting list, scoring a decent 62.281 per cent with her Gielardo, a son of Manno born in 2004.
