The last selections for the representatives in the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses will be held the coming weeks. We found out which of last year’s medal winners are still in the race for a ticket for this year.

Reigning world champion Fiontini was selected for the world champions once again last weekend at the Danish National Dressage Championships. Ridden by the Spanish Severo Jerado Lopez, she will pursue the third title in a row. Last edition, Fiontini was the absolute crowd pleaser and it came to no one’s surprise that she took home the world title to Denmark for the second time. Last year’s number two of the six-year-olds is the KWPN-bred and approved stallion Five Star.

Under Kirsten Brouwer he did not participate in the selection rounds for this year’s World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses. For the time being, the Oldenburg Approved Sir Ollie that won the bronze medal last edition with Ann-Christin Wienkamp has not been selected for the World Breeding Dressage Championships either. After the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses, Sir Olli was sold for 370.000 euro to Spain in the Oldenburger Elite Auction.

Several weeks ago, the owner of the world champion Victoria’s Secret announced that her top talent cannot travel to the world championships due to an injury. Last championships, Victoria’s Secret and Beatrice Buchwald won the word title in a convincing manner. Shortly after the world championships the mare was sold to Hanna Toosbuy. Representing Germany, the number two of last year, Quel Filou, is selected for the next qualification round. The German team will hold their second selection day on July 12th. The Dutch team decides coming weekend which combinations will form the delegation to the world championships. This means it is an exciting time for the mare Guadeloupe Beau. In 2016, she and the Dutch rider Kim van der Velden obtained the brons medal in the final for five-year-olds.
