On the sun-drenched Sunday afternoon in Ermelo, the by P. Kluytmans bred Olympic KWPN stallion Everdale (Lord Leatherdale x Negro) showcased that the Van Olst family and rider Charlotte Fry are blessed with stable replete with absolute stars. After winning the Grand Prix aboard Everdale yesterday, the two-fold world champion secured the world title for seven-year-old horses in the morning with Kjento (Negro x Jazz). To top it off, she also produced the best result in the CDI3* freestyle to music.
The pair won by a landslide as they saw their test being rewarded with 84.335%. Simone Pierce guided Fiderdance OLD (Fidertanz 2 x Blue Hors Don Schufro) to the second position. The German rider obtained 78.566% aboard her Oldenburg-bred stallion of Gestüt Bonhomme GmbH & Co.Kg. This horse was bred by Friedrich Ekkehard. The third to line up in the prize giving ceremony was Anna Kasprzak who presented the Portugese Sporthorse Addict de Massa (San Amour OLD x Maestro JGB), that was bred by Sylvain Massa. The Danish received 77.710% for her ride with the twelve-year-old stallion of Hanni Toosbuy.
Chairman of the jury Maarten van der Heijden enjoyed today’s class. “The crowd is excited, the grandstands are full, the arena looks fantastic, and we have got beautiful weather.” The second up till the sixth rank was very close in scores, with lovely freestyles with lots of harmony and high degrees of difficulty, but Lottie Fry was the clear winner. It was so powerful, with such an enormous spring off the ground, a beautiful passage and piaffe, in which she maintained tact and rhythm. And the extensions were huge. Expectations were high from an Olympic team silver duo, but they delivered! The freestyle of Lottie was simply fantastic.”
Everdale’s moment to shine
Fry just laughed and took it all in. She won every class she entered in Ermelo. The winning streak never seems to end for the British world champion. “I am enjoying it while it lasts”, she responds in a very down to earth fashion.
She was more than pleased with the Everdale’s performance: “This may have been one of his best tests ever! He was so relaxed and so powerful at the same time. He enjoyed the arena to the fullest. I think he has been waiting for this moment for a few months already. He always had to stay home while I took other horses to the show. This was his moment to shine, and he absolutely loved it. It was fantastic to be here in front of all his Dutch fans, especially since he is a breeding stallion.”
Fry is always eager to improve. “We can always do better, so we keep working on that. For now, I am very satisfied. I hope to enter Everdale in a few world cup qualifications and big shows coming season, so he can shine even more!”
