The impressive Cum Laude (Apache x Weltmeyer) moved effortlessly to the victory of the Prix St. George test of the Stallions of the Year class at the Longines FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo.
The dark bay stallion attracts the eye when he dances through the arena under Vai Bruntink. An incredible score of 71.617% secures the win in this class, making both Vai and owner Jaques Laarakkers proud. As this is the first time that the stallion performs at international level, both are more than satisfied. Vai: “There is always room for improvement, but we are very pleased with today,” she says, “He is such a beautiful horse and gives a wonderful feeling.”
The second place was claimed by the NRPS-approved Chippendale-son Crosby (bred by Th. And J. Deenen of Heyen), that scored 71.255% under Franka Loos. The stallion, with 270.000 euro the top seller of the 2018 Van Olst Sales, was the first resounding result of Franka Loos in this class. Together with Van Olst Horses there was more success, because the fourth place was taken by KWPN-approved George Clooney. The talented stallion performed a solid test with lots of elasticity and this was appreciated at 70.490%. In between on third place, was the Hannoverian Lord Django (Stalypso x Londonderry) under Polish rider Ilona Janas, that achieved 70.980%. The battle is not over yet. Today, the Stallions compete once again for the title in the Freestyle to Music.
