In exactly 100 days, the Longines FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses start at the National Equestrian Centre in Ermelo. This third edition in Ermelo will undoubtedly entail incredible sport once again. Thursday the second of August, the first competitor will enter the arena.
Championships
What wonderful champions were honoured last year: Lordswood Dancing Diamond received two 10s of the jury. Don Martillo received the excellent score of a 9.74 average and Fiontini pulled off a hat trick by winning championships for a third year in a row. This year, the qualifications of all age categories are ridden on one day, all in the main arena at the centre. On Thursday the qualification for five-year-old dressage talents is on the pogram, on Friday the six- and seven-year-old horses battle for a place in the finale. On Friday, the small final for the five-year-olds takes place, this class for six- and seven-year-olds is scheduled for Saturday. On Saturday, the five-year-old finalists compete for the medals, while the podium places are divided amongst the six- and seven-year-olds on Sunday.
Divers program
Of course, the program presents a range of interesting classes besides the world championships. On Thursday and Friday, you can enjoy the talent in various CDI-1* competitions. On Saturday, the Excellent Dressage Sales takes place, in which top quality dressage horses and foals will go under the auction hammer. Another exciting class, is the Stallions of the Year. Last year, this Prix St. Georges- competition for approved stallions stood out in diversity: nine participants, eight nationalities and seven studbooks were represented in Ermelo. We expect another alluring list of participants for this year!
