In 2016, the world championship returned to the Netherlands after nearly 20 years in Germany. Crowds from all over the world flocked to Ermelo to revel in dressage for four days. The enthusiasm did not go unnoticed by the FEI, that again awarded the event to Ermelo from 2017 until 2019. In 2021, Verden hosted the battle for the medals. In 2022 the WC celebrated another successful edition in Ermelo and this year as well as 2024, the WC for young dressage horses takes place in the Netherlands once again.

Recently, the FEI announced that the Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses will be organised in Verden, Germany, from 2025 until 2027. Hidde Frankena, chairman of the WC: “Of course, we think it is a pity that the WC returns to Verden for several years after seven wonderful editions in the Netherlands. Although we had considered the possibility, we had still hoped the event could remain in Ermelo given the positive responses from the riders, trainers, and grooms. We were fully committed to keep the WC in Ermelo and we will surely give it our all for the term after 2027. For now, however, we focus on organising another fantastic dressage-only event on Dutch soil this year as well as the next.”

The finest young dressage horses battle for the medals during the World Dressage Breeding Championships for Young Horses from the 3rd through the 6th of August 2023.
