A score of 76.54% secured DSP Bing Bang (Bon Coeur x Quadroneur) and Kristine Moller the victory in the small final for seven-year-old horses at the Longines FEI/WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses. L’Amore Per Sempre OLD (Livaldon x Alabaster) and Santiago Damil were breathing down their necks as they obtained 76.03% and slotted in second. The third ticket to the final was claimed by Quinten Begijnhoeve (Heros Begijnhoeve x Ferro) and Tommie Visser who received 74,06%.
“We enjoyed judging this wonderful class and we have seen a group of lovely horses. True quality horses, although some struggled with the more advanced movements every now and then”, says commentating judge Monique Peutz after the small final. The performance of the seven-year-old DSP-bred Big Bang, owned by Jens Thorsen and bred by Dr. Frank Klakow was significantly more convincing than the one in the qualification on Thuesday. The gelding received an 8.5 for his canter and 8.4 for perspective. Monique Peutz is enthusiastic about the winner: “Big Bang performed a fantastic test. He has enormous quality in all three paces and showed to be ready for this level with regard to the technical aspects of the test. A clear winner.”
Big Bang is also a winner in the eyes of his rider Kristine Moller. “I am super happy and pleased. This is only the third show this year and he performed two great tests already. He does not want to make any mistakes and always tries his best, that’s worth a great deal.”
Elegant horse
The number two, bred by Martin Otten and owned by Damil Dressage, was also complimented by the jury and received a 9.3 for the trot and an 8.5 for perspective. “What an elegant horse. A stunning mare, I would love to take her home”, quips Monique. “You could see L’Amore Per Sempre is still reliant on the help of her rider. We must take that into account in the submission, but still a horse with a fantastic presence and a remarkably impressive trot.”
Harmonious
In third place we encounter the BWP stallion, bred and owned by Stoeterij Begijnhoeve, who performed a very consistent test which resulted in an 8 for perspective. “Quinten is a big horse that needs to develop a bit more strength, but Tommie rode a great, harmonious test. If this horse gets a bit stronger, it is surely one to keep an eye on the future.”
