Do you think you’ve got it in you to become a FEI-judge? During the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses, that takes place at the National Equestrian Centre in Ermelo on 28-31 July, you can let your voice be heard via a mobile app. For every figure the audience can indicate which mark they give to the concerning combination.

Extra dimension
Joris Kemperman, project manager of the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses, points out that the app contributes in the joint effort between jury, rider and spectator. “In this way we increase the audience’s understanding of the judges scoring. For the riders it creates an extra dimension to hear how the audience feels about their performance. The spectators’ result is averaged and then published after every ride.” Spectator judging already took place at big competitions such as Stuttgart German Masters and London Olympia. Although the audience is obviously not sitting in the exact same physical location as the judges, the previous equestrian shows illustrated that the results from the spectators and the judges are very similar.

The spectator in the arena coming closest to the respective final score of the judges will be honoured with a prize. The spectators that follow the event via the livestream from home can also participate! So download the app Spectator Judging quickly and take up the challenge!
